Karthik Subbaraj is an Indian director, writer and producer working in the Tamil film industry. Known for quirky, visually flamboyant genre films, he is considered a prominent director in modern Tamil cinema. He debuted with the film Pizza (2012), which is considered one of the best modern horror films from India, and has gone on to direct several successful films which have garnered critical acclaim and cult status among fans, including Jigarthanda (2014), Iraivi (2016) and Petta (2019). His latest film, Jigarthanda DoubleX (2023) was one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year.
